What kind of therapist are you?

I am psychodynamically trained and oriented, and frequently utilize behavioral techniques in my work. What does "psychodynamic" mean, exactly? Psychodynamic psychotherapy helps you develop an understand of and language for your internal world. People often seek out this type of therapy if they're looking to understand relational patterns, along with the root causes of their thoughts, feelings and behaviors. 

How long is each therapy session?

The first visit is 60 minutes long. Follow-up visits are 45 minutes.

How frequently will we see each other?

Most patients see me once a week. For more intensive treatments, we may meet twice a week.

How is therapy different from talking with my friends or family?

The therapeutic relationship is unique in that I have an objective understanding of your experience. I want to help guide you to make positive changes in your life, and my role as your therapist makes a difference in how we connect, what you share, and how far we can go in your self-exploration. 

Do you accept insurance?

I am an in-network provider with most BlueCross BlueShield plans. If you have a different type of insurance, I am considered an out-of-network provider. This means you can be reimbursed for much of the cost of our sessions by your insurance company. Prior to your first visit, we can verify the details around your out-of-network benefits, and I can submit claims to your insurance on your behalf.
